Haiti Heart Care Foundation, Boynton Beach, Florida was formed in 2008 with intentions that encompasses several objectives; provide cardiac care, prevention, research and rehabilitation in Haiti.
This country consists of 10 million people serviced by 16 non invasive cardiologists with no hospital heart care facility.
The Haiti Heart Care Foundation has one simple overarching goal: to provide a center for comprehensive cardiac care accessible to the Haitian people. This will combine outreach and screening, education and prevention, non-invasive testing, medical treatment, and ultimately invasive evaluation and treatment of cardiac disease.
It is clear that in Haiti the need is urgent for medical care at the most basic level, but to stop there would be a travesty; to forget and to leave behind people who have the right to sophisticated as well as basic medical care would be capitulating to the defeatist notion that a poor country such as Haiti can never expect to reach a level similar to that of its neighbors.
The Haiti Heart Care Foundation will seek to partner with governmental institutions as well as the Haitian medical community and educational structures, both in Haiti and beyond to achieve this goal.
